Graduating from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Human Resource Management) and Bachelor of Law (Hons), Ghania has been practising law in New South Wales since 2001. Ghania has completed a Master of Applied Law majoring in Family Law and Family Dispute Resolution. She is an NMAS accredited Mediator, a Family Law Arbitrator (AIFLAM), an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with specialised training in “meeting with children” and a Collaborative Family Law professional. She is also an Associate Mediator with the Institute of Specialist Dispute Resolution
Her professional training and background coupled with her personal experience provides her with a unique understanding of the intricacies of family and human behaviour. Having gone through the Family Law system herself, Ghania understands the very deep and personal journey of separation and divorce as well as the emotional rollercoaster that accompanies family law proceedings. She has a very real insight into the impact of Family law proceedings on children and is passionate about providing separating parties with a child inclusive model of mediation.
Ghania has an extensive background in commercial and civil law and uses her broad skill set to bring her clients customised legal solutions that are commercially viable. She understands that her clients are people with their own unique circumstances, and appreciates the impact legal issues may have on their personal and business affairs. As such, Ghania works closely with her clients to develop real, workable solutions.
Ghania has over 18 years’ experience in legal costing, including the preparation of bills of costs and submissions in relation to legal costs, and is a consultant with DGT Costs Lawyers.
She is a valued member of the community and serves as Vice President of Living Well Through Pain Inc, a not-for-profit social entreprise focusing on end of life care.
Ghania has been invited to speak on a range of topics to assist in educating other lawyers in the profession, and to assist the general public in understanding the intricacies of the law and in particular family law.
Her various non-legal trainings in the human behaviour sphere enable her to connect with and understand her clients. Ghania is a certified Life and Performance Coach and NLP Practitioner, an accredited consultant and trainer of Extend DISC, human behaviour specialist and accredited Emotion Code practitioner. She has been engaged by local schools, Life Matters Academy and ISRA to present on human behaviour and well-being.
Ghania is passionate about writing and has freelanced with the SMH, The Age and Parenting Australia writing about family issues. In 2011, Ghania co-authored “Extraordinary You”, a self-help book aimed at assisting people with the tools required to create an exceptional life. She is currently (albeit slowly) working on her second book.
